International Adoption

This little beauty absolutely STOLE my heart... Every day I visited the Reece's Rainbow site (they advocate for special needs orphans around the world and help them to find their forever families) and checked on her status thinking, if only I was at that stage of my life this little munchkin would be all mine!

But I wasn't at that stage, so I prayed. I prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed and... well yeah, I prayed.

AND NOW!!!! PREPARE YOURSELVES... CUE SOME DRAMATIC STAR WARS MUSIC!

Picture from Reece's Rainbow
A family has committed to adopting her! WOOHOO! God is mighty to save, and saved He has!

However, there are many others who remain in orphanages around the world... 153,000,000 others in fact. And since we Christians are called to care for the fatherless, I figure that until I'm ready to adopt/ can afford to do some missionary work at an orphanage that advocacy is the way to go! So I've dedicated a little portion of this blog to try and help bring a little more attention to some of the kids on Reece's Rainbow (RR).

These kids are intent on stealing my heart...

The picture above is of a little girl with down syndrome with the alias "Burgandi" on RR. She adores shoes (what girl doesn't!) and is curious and energetic. She has a warm personality and laughs often. This precious gem turned 4 this February and is available to couples and single moms. Add that to the fact that she is cuter than a button and a cuddle-bug and it is impossible to resist!

If you're a prospective parent and are conflicted about adopting Burgandi due to her down syndrome diagnosis the following vids might be useful. :)

If you're not in a position to adopt (like me D:) or adoption's really not right for your family then there are loads of other ways to help the orphans on RR out... check out the ways to help section of their site at http://reecesrainbow.org/waystohelp.

Ashli, the book-loving beginner blogger :)
Misty (the cat) has also contributed significantly to this post. Mostly by sleeping.

3,2,1... BLAST OFF

Hey all,

This is the beginning of my blog! That is to say this is the future home of the not-so-concise ramblings and opinions of a 17 year old Christian girl from a minuscule Caribbean island with brief contributions from her slightly over-weight cat. :)

WARNING - Don't be misled by the length of this rare, ramble free post...
